I am a Newfoundland-born interdisciplinary designer, educator, and researcher based in Toronto, Canada. Over the past decade, I’ve produced many forms of printed and digital matter, including visual identities, front-end interfaces, experiential audits, custom lettering, websites, e-commerce platforms, collages, poster art, advertising campaigns, title sequences, books, photographs, custom typefaces, and interactive installations. I find satisfaction in a diverse and unspecialized practice, taking on a wide range of projects for companies and organizations of all sizes.
I’ve worked for and consulted with multi-national corporations (Netflix, Disney, NBC/Universal, Mercedes-Benz, Canada Goose, Starbucks, Hershel Supply Company, Entertainment One, Baxter’s Canada, Toronto International Film Festival, IMG, IBM, Amazon, MasterCard, WSP, Shopify, Publicis), public sector institutions and organizations (Toronto Metropolitan University, Association for New Canadians, Transform Community Group, Civix) and small businesses (J. N. Patten, Untainted Bath and Body Care, J&I Beauty Supplies, Kean Real Estate Group, 4 Circles Global, Bunnahabhain, Harbour Gallery, The Collective, Intent Media, Geek Oracle, Writers at Woody Point) for over 10 years. Additionally, I regularly work in the pre- and post-production phases of filmmaking with various companies (Furnace Room Films, Piece of Work, Timelapse Pictures, First Generation Films, Film Forge, Rhombus Media, Banger Films, Boom! Studios, HitPlay).
I’ve received recognition for my work in typeface design, editorial design, interaction design and photography. I’ve been commissioned for photography work from Canada Goose, Muttonhead, Filson, VSCO, Harper’s Bazaar UK, Taste of Iceland, FiftyThree, Great North Collective, Live Life in Tents, Explore Canada, and was featured in Instagram’s first printed publication, Creativity Reflected.
I graduated with a Master of Design from York University, a Master of Science in Experimental Psychology, and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Psychology from Memorial University. I have also completed certificates in typeface design and perfumery composition.
Over the past ten years, I’ve taught interaction design, experiential design, design and business, foundational typography, advanced statistics, and health psychology at various institutions. I have been an invited speaker and visiting critic at conferences and institutions in Canada, the United States of America, and the United Kingdom.
I am a tenured professor at Sheridan College, teaching in the Honours Bachelor of Experiential Design program and the Digital Product Design Graduate Certificate. I also reside on the Sheridan Research Ethics Board.
